Faith in the Hereafter (Akhirah)

“Who establish prayer and give zakat, and they, of the Hereafter, are certain in faith.” 13
The Holy Qur’an

Akhirah is the name of the eternal life that will start after the life in this world ends. Believing in the Hereafter is one of the main articles of being a Muslim. There is a direct and strong connection between faith in Allah and faith in the Hereafter. Because denying akhirah means that denying Allah who created the world of trials and notified people about the existence of it by stating that this world is temporary.

When the worldly life ends and the Day of Judgment comes, people of all times will be brought to account before Allah. Divine justice will be manifested, and good and evil, oppressor and oppressed, right and wrong will be distinguished from one another, and everyone will completely pay for what they have done.

Faith in the Hereafter develops people’s sense of responsibility. The Owner of the earth and heavens,

Allah (swt) will call people to account for all the blessings and amanah (trust) He gave to them, thus, making people conscious about them. This consciousness affects all interactions of a Muslim from social relations to attitude and behaviors towards the nature.

Faith in the Hereafter also helps people to lead their lives in line with a divine purpose, and dedicate themselves to the good by focusing on a right goal. It prevents negative feelings such as grudge, enmity, jealousy and hatred, and develops positive feelings such as forgiveness, mercy, hope, and patience. It gives strength for fighting against the hardships in life and responds to the search for the long-waited justice.

Those who believe in the Hereafter frequently remember death, and get prepared for the afterlife in the best way as conscious believers. Because the most beneficial investment is made on the land of eternity which includes the heaven.
