Faith
“I swear by Allah in whose hand my life is, you shall not enter Heaven so long as you do not affirm belief. You will not believe as long as you do not love one another.” 4
(The Prophet Muhammad (saw))
Accepting Islam comes true by believing and having faith. Iman (faith) means believing in the existence and oneness of Allah (swt), His angels, divine books, prophets, the Day of Judgment, and predestination. Mu’min (believer) is the one who believes all of these, verbally expresses their belief, and reflects them on their lives.
The lexical meaning of iman is living in safety and being free from fears. Those who have iman will be free from all fears by believing and trusting in Allah (swt). It brings meaning and serenity into people’s lives. It strengthens their confidence, and raises their will and persistence.
Iman keeps people away from bad and discredited words and behaviors. It protects people from going astray, and living an uneasy and meaningless life. Thus, human becomes trustworthy by spreading goodness in their family, neighborhood, city, nation and the world, and preventing evil deeds.
Faith has six main principles. These are faith in Allah (swt), His angels, divine books, prophets, the Day of Judgment, and predestination (qadar).
