GOSPEL
The Gospel is the divine book revealed to Prophet Isa. As a source of guidance,(Ma'idah, 5/46-47)the Gospel explains the provisions of Allah (swt). It states that Allah (swt) is one, is free from deficient attributes, has no children, is unpeered, and gives information about prophethood and the life in the Hereafter. It illuminates the darkness of ignorance and removes doubts by explaining the rules of religion and the religious responsibilities of people. Those concerned about Allah's consent and afraid of His punishment can use His advice and find the right way.
The Qur'an does not explain when and how the Gospel was revealed to Prophet Isa. However, with reference to the verses (Furqan, 25/52), it is understood that the Gospel, like the Torah, was revealed at once.
There are many common subjects between the Qur'an and the Gospel. While there are similarities in these common subjects, there are also some differences. Since Allah (swt) has sent down both the true Gospel and the Qur'an, it is natural to find similarities between them. However, based on this similarity, it is not correct to claim that the Qur'an benefits from the Gospels. Prophet Muhammad (saw) did not know Ancient Greek, the original language of the Gospels, and Syriac and Coptic, into which they were translated at that time. In addition, there is no certain information that the Gospels were translated into Arabic at that time. Even if it was translated, the fact that Prophet Muhammad (saw) was illiterate eliminates this possibility.
The “New Testament” section of the current Bible refers to the Christian Bible (Gospel). The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, which are generally accepted in the Christian world, are included in this section. Apart from these, the Gospel of Barnabas and the Gospel of Saint Thomas are also famous Gospel scriptures.
