Mercy

“Allah will not be merciful to those who are not merciful to mankind”(Bukhari, Tawhid, 2) , says the Prophet Muhammad (saw). So what is mercy? The Arabic words "marhamah" and "rahmat" mean to pity, to spare, to protect and to forgive. Mercifulness requires not hurting anyone, feeling sorry for the suffering of others, helping to relieve their distress as best you can, and self-sacrifice.
Almighty Allah (swt) introduces Himself to us in the Qur'an as Rahman and Rahim, which means very merciful and very forgiving. He is very merciful and compassionate towards His servants, His mercy encompasses everything. He also sent the Prophet Muhammad (saw) as a “mercy to the worlds (alamin)” (Anbya, 21/107) and asked believers to make compassion prevail in their relationships. (Fath, 48/29) A believer should be merciful to his fellow believer, other people and all living things, advise others to behave in the same way, and strive to spread mercy and compassion.
