Mustahabb Acts of Salah
The term mustahabb is used for actions that the Prophet Muhammad (saw) sometimes left and sometimes did. Performing mustahabb actions is considered valuable and virtuous, and there is no punishment or condemnation for abandoning them. Mustahabb actions are also called, sunnah ghair muakkadah (non-emphasized sunnah). Being in a state of submission, humility and harmony while performing salah; dressing accordingly; verbalizing the intention; looking at the place of sajdah while standing, at the feet while in ruku’, at the nose while in sajdah, at the lap while sitting and at the shoulders while giving salam; performing the supplications of ruku’ and sujud more than three times when praying alone are all considered mustahabb.
