According to the Qur'an, man has two basic choices in this world. These are “faith” and “denial”. The Qur'an lists the following as factors leading to denial: worldly ambitions, sense of greatness, seeing himself superior and not using reason effectively.
The Qur'an elaborates extensively on those who believe in Allah (swt) (mumin), those who do not believe (kafir), and those who disguise their disbelief as believers (munafiq) and their characteristics. He also mentions idolaters, Jews, Christians, Sabaeans, and Magi.
The Qur'an says that the purpose of man's existence in this world is "trial" and often reminds him of this fact. As a matter of fact, believers and unbelievers, good and evil will be separated from each other as a result of this trial. The following verse reveals this truth: “Or should we treat those who believe and do righteous deeds like corrupters in the land? Or should We treat those who fear Allah like the wicked? (Sad, 38/28)
