Salah al-Maghrib (Ritual Prayer in the Evening)

The Evening Ritual Prayer is performed when the day is over and people are getting ready to return to their homes after completing their work, and some of them have returned home. The Salah al-Maghrib, whose time starts with the sunset, can be performed until the time when the redness that occurs on the horizon, that is, the twilight, disappears. Because of its short time interval, the Prophet Muhammad (saw) encouraged people to perform this salah early on with His words “My community will remain well so long as it does not delay the evening prayer until the stars (shine bright and) interlace.” (Sunan ad-Darimi, Salah, 17; Sunan Abu Dawud, Salah, 6)  Salah al-Maghrib consists of five rak’ah in total: three fardh and two sunnah rak’ah.
