Tabligh (Conveyance of Allah's Orders)
Tabligh means "to deliver", "to notify" and "to transmit". The prophets, first of all, are responsible for conveying the complete messages of Allah to the people. This is the requirement of their duty of prophethood. This quality of the prophets is stated in one of the verses as follows: "O Messenger! Announce that which has been revealed to you from your Lord. And if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message..." (Maidah, 5/67) The prophets are those who convey Allah's orders and prohibitions to the people without decreasing or increasing them. Regarding this, it is stated in the Holy Qur'an as follows: "And if Muhammad had made up about Us some [false] sayings, We would have seized him by the right hand; Then We would have cut from him the aorta." (Haqqah, 69/44-46)
The prophets precisely conveyed the revelations they received from Allah to people, and while conveying divine messages to people, they did not resort to pressure and coercion. (Ra’d, 13/40)
The purpose of the prophets in tabligh is to give advice and to warn. In accordance with the verse, "Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best..."(Nahl, 16/125) the Last Prophet Muhammad (saw) conveyed Islam to people in a nice way. Undoubtedly, this style of conveyance played a major role in the success of Prophet Muhammad (saw) in a short time. Allah draws attention to this issue in one verse: "So by mercy from Allah, [O Muhammad], you were lenient with them. And if you had been rude [in speech] and harsh in heart, they would have disbanded from about you..." (Ali 'Imran, 3/159)
While performing their duty of conveyance, the prophets have no obligation to force people to accept the messages of Allah by putting pressure on them. On the other hand, while the prophets performed their duty of conveyance they did not refrain from anyone. In one verse, this characteristic of the prophets is highlighted as follows: "[Allah praises] those who convey the messages of Allah and fear Him and do not fear anyone but Allah..."(Ahzab, 33/39)
