They Can Take Different Forms

Angels are beings created from light. However, it is understood from the verses and hadiths that they can also take human form. When they appeared in human form, not only prophets, but also believers and even unbelievers were able to see them. There is a lot of information on this subject in verses and hadiths. According to one of them, angels came to Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to give good news of a child named Ishaq (Isaac), and Prophet Ibrahim could not understand that they were angels until they introduced themselves. (Hud, 11/69-71)
Another example of angels coming in human form is the messengers (angels) sent to destroy Lut's (Lot) people. They were sent to Prophet Lot in the form of young people with beautiful faces.(Alusi, Ruh al-Ma'ani, VI, 301) in the form of young people with beautiful faces. The people of this tribe, who had an immorality in their rage and perversion that had not been seen in any tribe before them, (Araf, 7/80) wanted to do evil things the angels who came in human form. The angels, on the other hand, informed the Prophet Lut, who was worried about this situation, that they were the messengers of Allah (swt), and that his people would not harm them and that they would be destroyed. (Araf, 7/80-84; Ankabut, 29/33)
Another example that angels can take human form is the situation of Jibril (as), who was sent to Maryam (Mary) to herald the coming of the Prophet Isa (Jesus). The verse on the subject states as follows: "And mention, [O Muhammad], in the Book [the story of] Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place toward the east. And she took, in seclusion from them, a screen. Then We sent to her Our Angel, and he represented himself to her as a well-proportioned man.” (Maryam, 19/16-17)
It has been reported that Jibril (as), the angel tasked with bringing revelations to the prophets, has superior powers and looks magnificent. (Najm, 53/5-7)Although it is stated that the Prophet Muhammad (saw) saw him in his original identity and with six hundred wings, it is also known that He saw him in different forms at different times. (Bukhari, Bad'ul Halq, 7) Sometimes Jibril brought revelations to the Prophet Muhammad (saw) in the form of the Companion Dihyah bin Khalifah,  and sometimes he came as an unknown person in that region. In this way, the Companions also saw Jibril. However, they learned that that person was Jibril when the Prophet Muhammad (saw) informed them.Bukhari, Iman, 36)
