Waqfat al-Muzdalifah

Located in the Harem region, Muzdalifah is a place between Arafat and Mina. Having completed their waqfats pilgrims leave Arafat on foot or by a vehicle after the sunset and before the maghrib prayer to spend the night at Muzdalifah just like the flood of people.
When they arrive at Muzdalifah, they establish the delayed maghrib prayer with isha prayer (jam al-takhir). Pilgrims spend their time at Muzdalifah with prayers and dhikrs until the fajr prayer. Also, the pebbles to be thrown at jamrahs on the days of eid are generally collected from here. After the fajr prayer, they perform waqfat with talbiyah, takbir, tahlil and du'as until the sunrise. It is possible to not to stay in Muzdalifah until the morning and go to Mina for confluence may happen at the stoning the devil or any other reason. In this respect, Prophet Muhammad (saw) sent his wives and weak people to Mina by night. (Nasa'i, Manasik, 208, 214)
Waqfat al-Muzdalifah is mentioned in a verse as follows: “When you depart from 'Arafat, remember Allah at al-Mash'ar al-Haram.” (Baqarah, 2/198) Mash'ar al-Haram is the name of a hill at Muzdalifah. Mash'ar means the place and time of consciousness/awareness. The waiting here will improve the level of consciousness of the believer and strength of his faith.
Muzdalifah resembles the day of judgment. It symbolizes the resurrection after death. The pilgrims who wait and ask for Allah's (swt) forgiveness almost live the joy of hearing the good news they are longing for. Having reached the eid with this happiness, Pilgrims depart from Mina to Muzdalifah in order to perform the worship of stoning the devil.
