Pillars of Salah (Rukn)

The main elements that make up the worship and take place as a part of it are called “rukn” (pillar). (Tevhit Ayengin, “Rükün”, DİA, XXXV, 286) There are 6 pillars of salah: Takbir al-Iftitah, qiyam, qira'ah, ruku', sajdah and qa’dah al-akhirah These pillars form the acts and deeds that expresses the exaltation and appreciation of Allah (swt), and manifests the feeling of humbleness to Him.
