What are the Types of Fasting?

The fast of Ramadan is among the pillars of Islam and therefore fard (obligatory) upon all Muslims. But there are virtuous times other than the month of Ramadan in which fasting is recommended. The Prophet of Allah himself used to fast the virtuous days and advised his companions to fast as well. So the blessings and merits of fasting can be felt and seen throughout the whole year. Every moment has a special virtue, benefiting from these virtues is a gift for each Muslim.
