abstract

Although it is a fundamental belief in Islam, the faith in angels is intertwined with other belief principles. Above all, faith in angels entails believing in Allah (swt) and the order He has established in the universe. Because Allah has concealed the flawless functioning of the universe behind visible and invisible causes and beings. Angels are also in charge of the order that Almighty Allah has established in the universe, and they carry out the tasks that have been assigned to them in that order without fail.

What is an Angel?

Faith in angels, which has a distinguished place among creatures and has been the focus of attention of humanity throughout history, is one of the six pillars of Islamic belief. In Arabic, "Malak" means angel. The word "Malak" means "messenger, envoy, powerful". (Isfahani, al-Mufradat, p. 82, 774-776) The plural form of this word in Arabic is “mala'ikah”. As a term, angel means "nurani" beings that cannot be perceived by the senses, except in some exceptional cases, which are equipped with some special powers and are only in charge of fulfilling Allah's (swt) orders".
