abstract

The main feature which makes the month of Ramadan so special and valuable for Muslims is the fact that “the fast of Ramadan” is performed in this month. Observing fast in the month of Ramadan is fardh for every Muslim and it is one of Islam’s primary acts of worship. The month of Ramadan becomes much more meaningful by fasting, people who don’t fast will not get the taste of it nor benefit from its spirituality.

FASTING, THE BLESSING OF RAMADAN

THE MONTH OF RAMADAN

Why is Ramadan Special?

Allah is the Most Gracious and the Most Merciful, the Owner of limitless forgiveness. His endless mercy encompasses the whole universe; He treats His servants with profound compassion in this world and the Hereafter. He guides them so they do not stray from the right path, He warns them about the wrong, He forgives when they err, He gives multiple chances so they do good. He creates special periods within "the year" so that they may become a better person and a better servant. He wishes that His servants utilize these "special" times and maintain a better life. In these special and beautiful times, He wishes that His servants turn to Him more frequently than usual, that they remember Him day and night, and draw near to Him. By staying away from evil, He wishes for them to be absolved from sins so they may become completely pure. During such times, He wishes that people come closer to each other, that they help the needy and the poor so they become a better person. Allah rewards the goodness and favors in these times abundantly, because He is the Most Merciful, the Most Gracious. The month of Ramadan is one of those "blessed times" which are the reflection of our Lord's limitless Rahmah.
Ramadan is a sacred month for Muslims,
the "month of mercy",
the "month of Qur'an",
the "Sultan of eleven months".
