Hajj: Allah's Right Over His Servants Who Could Afford
Worships have a very important function for the sustainability of individual and social peace as a reflection of iman to life. Mu'mins strengthen their ties with Allah (swt) and grow to spiritual maturity by disciplining their nafs (self, psyche), as they worship. While sometimes it is the individual aspect of the worship that comes in the forefront as in prayer and fasting, sometimes the aspect of social aid and solidarity come into prominence as it is the case in such worships as zakat and qurbani. Hajj is a significant worship that includes both of the aforementioned aspects and is a multi-dimensional worship performed by body and property.
Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam. (Muslim, Iman, 21; Bukhari, Iman, 1). It is a duty for Allah’s (swt) servants whoever can afford to visit Ka’bah (Ali 'Imran, 3/97).
Where is the Ka’bah, when and by whom it was built? What does it mean to perform hajj? How is hajj performed? What is the meaning and significance of hajj? A mu'min has to know all about these.
