HAJJ A Blessed Journey book

PROF. DR. ÜLFET GÖRGÜLÜ

abstract

Hajj is an important turning point in the life of a believer. Although performing Hajj and becoming a pilgrim is a matter of destiny, staying as a pilgrim requires great responsibility and effort. Being a pilgrim means reaching maturity in terms of faith and morality, beyond being a title. It is to abide by the rights and ethics of brotherhood with the awareness of being a member of the ummah, not an ordinary Muslim. The hajj performed in the “limited days” ends, but being a pilgrim continues for a lifetime.

Hajj is a significant worship that includes both of the aforementioned aspects and is a multi-dimensional worship performed by body and property.
Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam. (Muslim, Iman, 21; Bukhari, Iman, 1). It is a duty for Allah’s (swt) servants whoever can afford to visit Ka’bah (Ali 'Imran, 3/97).
Where is the Ka’bah, when and by whom it was built? What does it mean to perform hajj? How is hajj performed? What is the meaning and significance of hajj? A mu'min has to know all about these.
Therefore, we have to start by acquainting ourselves with Ka’bah:
