PAGES (SCRIPTURES)

In periods when literacy opportunities were limited, revelations sent to prophets were written on various materials such as stone tablets and plates. The revealed information written on the materials in question is called "suhuf (pages)", which is the plural of the word "sahife" (page).
In the Qur'an, "suhuf" given to previous prophets is mentioned. (Taha, 20/133; Najm, 53/36-37; A'la, 87/18-19) There is no certain information on how many pages have given to which Prophet. However, according to a hadith: "Allah (swt) has revealed one hundred pages and four books. Of these, fifty pages were sent down to Seth, thirty pages to Idris, ten pages to Ibrahim (Abraham), and ten pages to Musa (Moses) before the Torah. Besides, He revealed Torah, Bible, Psalms and the Qur'an ” (Ibn Khibban, Sahih, II, 77)
None of the pages given to previous prophets have reached the present day. The issue of which information is included in these pages is only partially mentioned in the Qur'an. For example, in the Surah al-A’la, it is stated that the one who purifies himself and mentions the name of his Lord and prays, will achieve salvation; however, although the happiness of the Hereafter is better and more enduring, people still prefer worldly life. In the rest of the verse, it is said: “Indeed, this is in the former scriptures, the scriptures of Abraham and Moses.” (A'la, 87/14-19) It is understood from this expression that the information is included in the pages sent to the previous prophets. (Tabari, Jami' al-Bayan, XXIV, 325)
These scriptures and the Qur'an are the passages of revelation that come from the same source. Because, when the deniers demanded a miracle from Prophet Muhammad (saw), they are asked the following question: "Has there not come to them evidence of what was in the former scriptures?" (Taha, 20/ 133)  This question is an expression of harmony between the Qur'an and scriptures revealed before it. Also it is stated in Qur'an: “And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples.” (Shu'ara, 26/196)  As it is stated in this verse, Qur'an mentioned meritoriously in the scriptures of the previous prophets.(Ibn Kathir, Tafsir-ul-Qur'an 'Adheem, X, 371)
From the explanations of the Qur'an about the scriptures that revealed to the previous prophets, it is understood that those scriptures contain knowledge on the principles of faith such as the oneness of Allah (swt), the existence of Hereafter and ibadah, worship (rules governing social life), morality. Qur'an contains the permanent principles and provisions concerning the religion of Allah (swt), for this reason, the knowledge of previous scriptures also mentioned in it.
