HUMANS NEED REVELATION
Almighty Allah (swt) created the universe and humans as the most distinguished being in the universe. He bestowed on them a unique creation, notably the mind, with its biological and psychological structure, which is not found in any of the other beings. With these characteristics, humans are the master of the created.
The Almighty Creator (swt), hosts humans in this world with numerous blessings and beauties. Moreover, He gave humans the intelligence and learning abilities that will enable them to benefit from them. By using these abilities, humans have acquired very important information about themselves and the universe they live in.
Humans explore and observe the nature, both living and inanimate beings. Their purpose is to obtain information about them and to use them for their own benefit. However, this information obtained does not answer the questions of "why" humans, life and the universe were created. Again, this information does not help people to live a life based on moral values and attain eternal salvation.
If we explain this situation a little more, we can say: Humans cannot gain knowledge on the subjects that fall into the field of religion through their own research.
For example, what kind of entity is Allah (swt)?
What is the purpose of human’s creation?
Is there a new life after death?
What is the purpose of this life?
Is a life with morals necessary?
What are the conditions of it?
How should we worship Allah (swt)?
It is not possible for humans to answer these and many other questions with their own knowledge. The answers to these questions can only be found through revelation.
In fact people have contemplated on the meaning of life, what is right and wrong, good and bad, pleasant, and unpleasant. However, their results have always been different from each other. They have not been able to determine some common values that they have implemented as a life principle.
So why is revelation necessary? Allah (swt) is the possessor of the most beautiful names. Likewise, He also has the attribute of "speaking". Thus, He (swt) spoke to the man. Countless prophets throughout the history of humanity are witnesses to this.
Almighty Creator (swt) has provided all of humans’ needs regarding their biological existence. If so, can his Lord (swt) leave them unattended as to what truth and reality are? Is it possible for Allah (swt) not to show His servants the ways of happiness?
People who see the goodness of their Lord in every way, of course, does not want to be deprived of His talking to them. Revelation has come to meet such a need, and it is the result of the Almighty Creator's (swt) compassion and mercy towards humans.
As a matter of fact, the companions of the Messenger of Allah (saw) desired revelation like a baby’s craving for mother’s milk. When the verses revealed, they were happy and gave good news to each other. When the Qur'an was completed and the revelation ended, they were saddened and could not hold back their tears.
