Ramadan the Month of Repentance
The month of Ramadan is a month in which the doors of mercy are opened, and the servants are forgiven and purified from their sins thanks to this mercy. In this month, by questioning their mistakes and short-comings, Muslims ask for their sins to be forgiven. They hope to be purified in this blessed period by feeling the profound mercy of Allah on themselves. They are cleaned by fasting and absolved by Ramadan. in remorse and with certitude and sincerity, they ask for forgiveness and promise not to commit sin again. Ramadan, hereby, becomes the month of repentance, new beginnings, refreshment and renewal. The Prophet expressed this as follows:
“As long as one abstains from major sins, the five daily prayers, the Friday prayer and Ramadan expiate the sins commited in between them.” (Muslim, Taharah, 16)
