Salah al-Tarawih

Salah al-Tarawih is only performed in the month of Ramadan, between the Night and Witr ritual prayers. It can be performed as twenty or eight rak’ah, and unlike other nafilah ritual prayers, performing the tarawih with congregation is considered sunnah.  (Sahih Bukhari, Salah at-tarawih 1) It is narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (saw) would pray eight rak’ah and spend most of His night in worship.  (Sahih Bukhari, Salah at-tarawih 1) The virtue of the tarawih prayer is manifested in the words of Prophet Muhammad (saw) “Whoever prayed at night in it (the month of Ramadan) out of sincere Faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven.” (Sahih Bukhari, Salah at-tarawih, 1)  Salah al-tarawih can be performed with a taslim every two or every four rak’ah.
